12th September 2024

We are filled with pride as we reflect on our Opening Mass, where over 840 staff and students gathered to foster the spiritual and moral development of our college community. Our school's vision was at the heart of the celebration, reminding us of the core values and vision that unite us all. The beautiful music provided by Tully added a special touch, creating an atmosphere of reflection and unity.

We are grateful for the strength and spirit of our community and look forward to continuing our journey together this school year.

Day 1

Our students touched down in sunny Spain yesterday morning and hit the ground running—literally! They headed straight for the heart of Barcelona, where their first stop was the Arenas shopping centre. Next up, they joined their awesome local guide, Josep, for a whirlwind tour of the city.

Highlights? Visiting the iconic 1992 Olympic Stadium, now the temporary home of FC Barcelona while Camp Nou gets a facelift. Then, they took in the stunning views from Montjuïc, where Miss McGuinness was secretly happy there was no cable car ride this time!

After saying "adiós" to Josep, the crew made their way to Salou, checked into their hotel, enjoyed a hearty dinner, and wrapped up the day with a relaxing evening walk before calling it an early night.

It’s safe to say our students are living out one of our school’s visions—immersing themselves in a stimulating learning environment!

Day 2

Our Students enjoyed a visit to Sagrada Família, a roman catholic minor basilica in Barcelona which was designed by Antoni Gaudí. It was started in 1882 and still unfinished in the first quarter of the 21st century, the Sagrada Família, notable for its tactile organic form, is one of Barcelona’s most famous landmarks. It is an unexpected sight in its urban setting, with its bold flying buttresses and twisted towers looming over the city. Our Students enjoyed the experience!

Day 3

Barcelona was yet another fantastic day for our Spanish Trip Pupils! The day kicked off with a trip to the @cosmocaixa Science Museum, where the pupils explored an indoor rainforest and an aquarium, and engaged in various experiments.

Following that, they headed to the Gaudí Experience, an interactive 4D experience dedicated to the renowned architect.

In the afternoon, they embarked on a guided tour of the iconic Sagrada Familia Cathedral and indulged in some souvenir shopping.

Later on, they enjoyed a game of bowling, with Mr. McQuaid showcasing his skills. Mrs. Devlin also proved to be quite adept!

The day concluded with a dinner at the hotel and a delightful stroll through the city's shops.

Day 4

Our next destination was PortAventura, where we spent the day enjoying all the rollercoasters. After that, our staff and students relaxed at the hotel pool for an hour before having dinner. Later, they headed to the House of Illusion for an impressive and entertaining magic show, where some students, including Leo, participated in the entertainment, aligning with our vision of a stimulating environment.

On the final day of the Spanish journey, the group visited the mountaintop monastery of Montserrat, admiring its breathtaking views and picturesque surroundings. Afterwards, they returned to Barcelona to visit a chocolate museum, where they sampled chocolate and discovered the origins and history of this sweet treat in Europe. Alfie marked his 13th birthday with chocolate candles. Finally, they made their way to the airport, ending their tiring yet fulfilling four-day adventure.

We are thrilled to have you as part of our school community and wish you all the best for the exciting year ahead. Your energy and passion are truly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing the great impact you'll have on our students. Our staff also received a welcome pack full of essentials which they can use in the year ahead!
