8th March 2025

Today, we celebrate all the incredible female staff at Saint Kevin’s College. Each of us plays a vital role in shaping young minds, inspiring confidence, and fostering a supportive learning environment.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme – ‘Accelerate Action’ – reminds us that progress happens when we uplift and empower one another. Together, we are making a difference every day, shaping strong, capable, and resilient students for the future.

This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, reminds us to keep pushing forward, breaking barriers, and lifting each other up. A special mention goes to Ellie, whose outstanding achievements in dancing continue to inspire, and Lynne, whose football success showcases dedication and resilience. They embody the spirit of this year’s theme, proving that determination and passion drive success.

To all our female staff – thank you for your commitment, strength, and inspiration every day! 💜✨

Our Year 12 students participated in a revision workshop with Learn Spark to specifically tackle the vital question: how do we study? These widely favored sessions enable students to become self-reliant and effective learners, while also providing parents/guardians with the resources to aid their children's academic endeavors.

5th March 2025

We welcomed Primary 6 and 7 students from Saint Ronan's Primary School to participate in an engaging and informative Science workshop, which was conducted in collaboration with our dedicated Science Leadership team. This event was designed not only to enhance the students' understanding of various scientific concepts but also to ignite their passion for learning through hands-on experiences.

During the workshop, the students had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of pH testing. They learned about the importance of pH levels in various substances, exploring how acidity and alkalinity can affect chemical reactions and biological processes. This segment of the workshop included practical activities where students used pH indicators to test different solutions, allowing them to observe firsthand the color changes that correspond with varying pH levels. This interactive approach fostered a deeper understanding of the concept and its relevance in everyday life.

In addition to pH testing, the students were treated to a live rat dissection, which provided a unique opportunity to explore anatomy in a real-world context. They were guided by our knowledgeable Science Leadership team, who explained the significance of each organ and its function within the body. The students were able to identify vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and liver, gaining insights into how these systems work together to sustain life. This experience was not only educational but also sparked curiosity and a sense of respect for biological sciences.

To conclude the workshop, the students engaged in an exciting demonstration focused on the reactivity of metals. They observed various metals interacting with different substances, witnessing reactions that produced visible changes and even sounds. This part of the workshop was particularly thrilling, as students eagerly anticipated the outcomes of each experiment, reinforcing their understanding of chemical properties and reactions.

Overall, the students left the workshop buzzing with excitement and newfound knowledge. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the students from Saint Ronan's Primary School for taking the time to visit us, and we deeply appreciate their enthusiasm and willingness to share in this educational experience. Such collaborative events not only enrich the learning environment but also strengthen the bond between our institutions, fostering a community of inquisitive minds eager to explore the wonders of science together.
