Our talented students showcased their equestrian skills at the Inter-Schools competition held at Castle Irvine Necarne, Irvinestown. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our riders to demonstrate their dedication and talent in a competitive setting, and they certainly did not disappoint!

The competition featured an Inter-Schools Show Jumping Qualifier, with the ultimate goal of securing a place at the prestigious Balmoral Show in 2025. Our students displayed remarkable horsemanship and teamwork, navigating challenging courses with precision and confidence.

Among our skilled riders were Joanna on her pony Shelby, Alannah with both ponies Lady and Darcy, Aoibheann with her pony Arnold, Orlaith on Teddy, and Raenah with pony Shelby. Each of them delivered outstanding performances, proving their ability to compete at a high level and represent our school with pride.

In addition to the thrilling competition, students had the invaluable opportunity to hear from Caoimhe Hegarty, who spoke to competing schools from across Northern Ireland about the Equine study routes available at CAFRE. She highlighted the various career opportunities within the equine sector, offering inspiration and guidance to those considering a future in the industry.

The day was a tremendous success, not only in terms of competition but also in fostering camaraderie and enthusiasm for equestrian sports. Congratulations to all our riders for their hard work and dedication—we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them in the equestrian world!

A few weeks ago, a group of our adventurous junior students set off on an unforgettable ski trip, embracing the challenge of learning new skills on the slopes. From the moment they arrived, excitement filled the air as they geared up and prepared to take on the snow-covered mountains.

For many, this was their first time skiing, but that didn’t stop them from throwing themselves into the experience with enthusiasm and determination. Under the guidance of expert instructors, the students made impressive progress—mastering the basics, navigating the slopes, and even tackling some more challenging runs as the week went on. There were plenty of slips, slides, and spectacular tumbles, but each fall was met with laughter and resilience, showing just how much fun learning can be.

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was bum boarding, which proved to be an absolute hit with the students. With shrieks of joy echoing across the snowy hills, they raced each other downhill, spinning, tumbling, and laughing the entire way. It was a moment of pure joy that will no doubt be a lasting memory for everyone involved.

Beyond the skiing and bum boarding, the trip was about more than just sports—it was about friendship, teamwork, and making memories. The students cheered each other on, helped their friends up after a fall, and celebrated each other’s progress throughout the week. Evenings were filled with games, chats, and plenty of hot chocolate, making it a true bonding experience for all.

A huge thank you goes to the wonderful students who took part and brought their energy and positivity to the slopes. We also want to express our gratitude to the dedicated staff who accompanied them, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Check out this little video capturing some of the best moments from the week—smiles, snow, and plenty of fun guaranteed!
