Pupils from Years 10–14 enjoyed an amazing hands-on history experience at St Kevin’s as Holding History visited the college!
Mr Seán McNicholl delivered fascinating talks and showcased a remarkable collection of artefacts ranging from the early 1900s right up to 2010. These included weapons landed at Larne and Howth during the Home Rule crisis, as well as barbed wire and an Irish Volunteer belt buckle recovered from the Somme.
Students also had the chance to examine original documents such as newspapers from the Irish War of Independence, World War Two, the Hunger Strikes of 1980–81 and the Good Friday Agreement era.
To top it all off, Holding History brought along a Snatch Land Rover that saw service in Belfast (1990s) and Iraq (2005).
Our pupils showed incredible enthusiasm and curiosity throughout—what an unforgettable visit from this unique “museum of modern history”!
