Dear Primary 7 Pupils & Parents

May I on behalf of the Pupils, Staff and Board of Governors, take this

opportunity to welcome you to Saint Kevin’s College. I hope you find

this page purposeful in providing you with a brief insight into school life.

At Saint Kevin’s College we believe the 7 years a child spends at post primary

school should be enjoyed and treasured in their own right whilst also laying the

foundations for all other stages of a young person's life. We provide our

pupils with a program of 32 GCSE & 32 A Level subjects embracing all aspects

of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. Enabling each pupil to attain his/her

full potential – academically, morally, socially, and physically – in a happy and

caring environment.

We see our School community as a family. I am privileged to lead a team of 125 highly skilled, experienced, and dedicated teaching and support staff. We also value the involvement of parents and friends of the school in working together to provide the best education that our young people deserve.

There is no better way to find out about the vibrant life of Saint Kevin’s College than visiting the School on the Open Night either in person or online on the 11th January 2022.  However, I appreciate that many parents prefer the opportunity to speak to me personally about our School and how it can meet the individual needs of their child. If you would like to make an appointment to see me and visit the School, please contact the School office at any time.

The Pupils and Staff look forward to one day getting to know your child and you one day too.

Gary Kelly

P7 Transition!

My name is Miss Devlin and my role is to oversee the transition from P7 into Year 8. Our aim at St. Kevin’s College is that all new pupils find this change fun, informative and seamless. At this time, we normally look forward to welcoming prospective students into our school, however, this is not possible this year. We do look forward, instead, to seeing you for Taster Days in June, where pupils are given the opportunity to meet other incoming Year 8 pupils and teachers. We will also have a range of interactive activities to allow everyone the opportunity to get to know each other.  Until then, I hope you all enjoy our Virtual Open Night and that the remainder of your P7 journey is enjoyable.

I look forward to meeting you all very soon!

Miss A Devlin, Head of Learning & Teaching including P7 Transition

At St. Kevin’s College we recognise that the transition between KS2 and KS3 needs to be a smooth one. At the end of each academic year, we are delighted to invite our incoming Year 8 pupils into the school for a taster day so they can acclimatise to their surroundings before their official start in September.

These days are packed with fun activities such as Science experiments, arts and crafts and Home Economics. These taster sessions offer pupils the opportunity to meet other students and begin building friendships, meet St. Kevin’s College staff including members of the Year 8 Pastoral Team and get a tour around the school building.

Parents are also invited to attend information sessions to receive key information regarding school life. We firmly believe that this opportunity is a vital piece to the foundation of an informed transition for all students and parents involved.

My favourite thing about St Kevin’s is the P.E facilities and the after school sports. Before joining I was afraid of getting lost in such a big school but we got a map on the 1st day.

My favourite thing about St Kevin’s is all the new subjects that I get to do, like Home Ec and Technology. Before joining I was worried about making new friends but my form teacher introduced me to new people.

My favourite thing about St Kevin’s is the teachers, they are all very helpful.

I was worried about making new friends but the I met loads of people in my class in the Summer scheme.

Year 8 Summer Scheme

Summer Scheme and Team Building

Each year, Year 8 pupils are invited to attend a summer scheme where they are able to build upon the information received during the taster session.

Pupils will be involved in school based activities such as games and sporting activities as well as coding classes to name a few. Pupils will also experience day trips to local attractions such as Marble Arch Caves.

Pupils also attend team building days at the SHARE Centre to help forge new friendships within form classes. This is another important part of the process of transition to life at St. Kevin's College.
